Caardvarks DRS Designs, June Card Challenge

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

We are certainly in the prime of wedding season, and I needed a card for a wedding we attended last weekend. So, I decided to incorporate wet embossing so I could submit it for the June Caardvarks Challenge. I had a great time making this card, and I'm proud of myself for really thinking outside the 'Nicki Box' and doing something a bit different than my normal style. I just LOVE how it turned out!

The flowers and sentiment are embossed with silver embossing powder. It's been a while since I've used embossing, and I realized how much I miss it and love it! Maybe you will see more of my cards with embossing now. I folded the ribbon repeatedly which gives this card a lot of dimension. For the background, I used a piece of cardstock that has a metallic, shimmery look to it, and I'm so glad it showed up well in the photo. To add just a little more character, I included the small piece of patterned paper on the right edge and punched it using the Open Scallop Edger punch, one of my new favorites! Thanks for stopping by my blog and hope you visit again soon!

DeNami Product Challenge #2: Gifts and Favors Templates

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Hi everyone, I'm back! After a busy six weeks or so, I am excited to get back into my stamping again - WOOHOO!!!!!! Dave & I were busy moving stuff out of my condo that finally sold (another woohoo!), and painting our current place to get ready to put on the market. I'm so glad to be participating in this challenge! Although now it's going to be quite the challenge for me to keep my small stamping area clean while our place is up for sale. Anyone have any tips??!!

I decided to download the free purse template from DeNami's website for this challenge. I used white cardstock as the base, and used just one stamp over and over again! The flower vine on the front flap of the purse is stamped on a separate white piece, and carefully cut-out and placed using foam dimensionals. I love the little pink pearl added to the middle of the flower...I think it's the little things that give it that special touch! I also stamped the flower with white craft ink on the Sage Shadow cardstock, which is on the edge of the flap, and also used for the handle. I added Stickles to the center of each flower on both of those pieces. This was a fun challenge! Thanks DeNami Design for the free template!
