DeNami Theme Challenge #1: Spring

Friday, April 30, 2010

Over at the DeNami Designs blog, today is the last day to submit an entry for the Spring Theme Challenge. After a busy week, I'm glad that I had a chance to make a card for this challenge. The color combination is quite brighter than I usually pick, but I really wanted this card to scream Spring! I am really enjoying these challenges because they are expanding my creativity and I'm loving the end results!

Birthday Butterfly

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Birthday cards are what I seem to make the most! This card is for my step-mom. Happy Birthday, Carol! I bought some heavy vellum, white dye ink and embossing powder, and Spica markers from a company called Sweet Stamps not too long ago at a Rubber Stamp show. They had some beautiful samples of parchment crafting and I wanted the supplies to try it myself. Although mine looks quite different than their samples, I'm still enjoying the way this butterfly turned out. I used the white dye ink and embossing powder to create the butterfly. Then, I used the Spica markers to color in the butterfly on the front side of the vellum because I wanted the 'twinkles' to show up! If you color on the back of the vellum, you get a much softer, lighter look than what I have done here. I will have to play around more with these tools to see what I can come up with. In the meantime, enjoy the Birthday Butterfly!

Masculine Birthday - Stripes

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I love making feminine/flowery cards, so when I have to make a masculine card it can sometimes be a challenge for me. I feel like there is a limited amount of manly colors (and stamps) to choose from! I used basic stamping on this card. The paper piercer tool was used to add a little bit of detail around the present. I also added a touch of color to the present with the Mint Spica Marker. Enjoy!

Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin' Up - Year After Year (present), Eat Cake (happy birthday)
Cardstock: Stampin' Up - Kraft, Very Vanilla, Sage Shadow. DCWV - Brown.
Patterned Paper: Cloud9Design - Travel Stripe
Ink: Stampin' Up - Chocolate Chip craft ink
Other: Stampin' Up Twill Tape, Paper Piercer, Spica Marker - Mint

DeNami Product Challenge #1: Buttons

Friday, April 16, 2010

Last month, I had the pleasure of attending my first ever Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp Show with a few friends. Lucky for me, DeNami Designs was one of the booths, and I fell in love! ;-) Nami’s designs are cute, clean, and a lot of fun! I had a blast browsing all the stamps, card ideas, and watching and learning great tips from Nami! I came home with a handful of stamps and a scalloped circle punch. Aaahhhhh....I’m a happy camper. Oh, I mean happy Stamper!!!

This is the first challenge I have ever done. I really enjoyed it and plan to do many more! Here's the card I made for the button challenge. I used DeNami's medium Palm Tree, Petit Fours Seashells, and Curly Garland Border stamps. I put the caramel colored buttons in the center of the palm tree as coconuts! I also added dimensionals and some Stickles to the shells at the bottom...the pic doesn't show the sparkles very well. I just love how this card turned out. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and I hope you visit again!

Craft Room Organizing

Saturday, April 3, 2010

I have been busy cleaning up our second bedroom, which is the computer/craft/guitar room! My craft supplies were exploding throughout a large portion of the room, and I just can't focus when things are in such disarray. It's looking MUCH better now, but I still have some things to sort through and organize. I'm pleased with the progress of my cardstock organization...it has been a LONG time coming! I had so many scraps to separate. They are now matched up with their 8.5x11 sheets and placed in a hanging file folder. Still have to finish labeling them all now. One of these days I will take a picture of it and post here. I'm a little obsessed with organizing ;-)
