Embellish Magazine Challenge

Thursday, April 12, 2012

When I saw the colors for this Embellish Magazine challenge, I was immediately drawn in and HAD to make something! Aren't they just beautiful?!?!

One of my favorite stamp sets right now is PTI's Rosie Posie. I have seen so many gorgeous cards made with this set, and I still hadn't used mine yet. What on earth have I been waiting for?! :)

Well, here it is. I'm sure there are no such thing as blue roses, but what the heck...this is art, right?!? I can do whatever my little heart desires, lol! Anyway, I had fun making this and I hope I've inspired you to get out one of those stamp sets you haven't even used yet!! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Embellish Magazine Color Challenge with Squares

Thursday, September 9, 2010

I've got a quick post today. This is my card for the Embellish Magazine Color Challenge with Squares. This is such a great color combination, I couldn't pass up submitting a card to the challenge! I punched out a few squares and decided to rotate them so they actually look like diamonds. I made this for my stepmom to cheer her up since she's been in a lot of pain lately due to a bulged disc in her lower back. Her favorite color is purple, so it worked out very nicely :-) Thanks for stopping by and as always, I'd love to hear your comments!

Supplies:
Stamps: Stampin' Up -Doodle That, Around and About, Fun and Fast Notes
Cardstock: SU - Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Ink: SU - Perfect Plum, Basic Black
Ribbon: PTI - Spring Moss
Other: Nestabilities Labels One, SU 1 3/8" Square Punch, Stickles-Lavender, Dimensionals

Embellish Magazine Color Challenge with Ric Rac

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

One of my favorite sites to visit for stamping inspiration is embellish magazine. The challenges are great and I love to see what everyone comes up with! This time I am actually submitting a card myself! Now that my place is finally on the market, I have more crafty time ;-)

When I saw the color combo for the current challenge, I thought it was a very interesting combination, and I don't recall ever making a card with these colors. I really liked it, and I even went out and bought some ric rac so I could participate! I had a great time making this card. Continue reading to see what new technique I tried.

I decided to do a square gatefold card. I used the Little Yellow Bicycle patterned paper on the left side, and wanted to put something else on the other side. I've had Pearl Ex powders sitting in my stash for a few years now, but have only played with it once! I found a tutorial on Splitcoast called Pearl Ex - Poppin' Pearls. It's so easy! So, I took the dotted flower stamp, inked it with Versamark, stamped the vanilla cardstock and then used sponge daubers to apply the Pearl Ex to the stamped image! I started with the orange/copper color in the center, then applied the blue. Afterwards I took a kleenex and gently wiped off the excess powder. Since I didn't have acrylic sealer to seal it, I gave it a few squirts of hairspray and that seemed to do the trick. You can see some of the shiny pearl in the close-up shot on the right. Thanks for visiting and I hope you like my take on the challenge!!

I also added some of the patterned paper and kraft cardstock to spice up the inside of the card!
